VETERANS EDUCATION PROGRAMS Administered By the Rhode Island Office of Higher Education (RIOHE)
VETERANS EDUCATION PROGRAMS
The Rhode Island Office of Higher Education (RIOHE) is the administrative arm of the Rhode Island Board of Governors for Higher Education. RIOHE serves as the State Approving Agency (SAA) for veterans education programs in Rhode Island. To ensure that the quality of education meets both state and federal guidelines, the SAA evaluates and approves all vocational, educational, and professional programs. The SAA conducts annual on-site supervisory visits to approved institutions and to schools seeking approval. Approved certificate and degree programs can be found in institutions of higher learning (colleges and universities), in non-degree institutions (proprietary and career schools), and in certain programs offered in other settings (e.g., police academies, hospitals).
Veterans or other eligible persons seeking information regarding veterans benefits should contact the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) Education Customer Service Office at (888) 442-4551 or visit the DVA website at www.va.gov. The DVA can also provide information regarding apprenticeship and on-the-job training (OJT) programs. The Providence Regional DVA Office can be reached at (800) 827-1000.
Schools, colleges, universities, and program directors seeking information regarding programs or program approval should contact Aronda N. Rodgers either by phone at (401) 462-9338 or by email at arodgers@ribghe.org.
Information about specific approved programs can be obtained through the contact persons listed for each institution in this directory.
The Rhode Island Office of Higher Education has developed this directory of programs approved for veterans benefits. However, program offerings change, and an institution or program may have applied for approval since this site was established. If you have a question about an institution or program not listed, contact the Rhode Island Office of Higher Education at (401) 462-9338.
