Oklahoma Guaranteed Student Loan Program
FY 2010 Federal Budget Proposal

President Obama’s budget proposal for FY 2010 includes movement of all federal student lending toward the direct lending program. In its current form, the budget blueprint would drastically alter the student aid landscape without ensuring that students, families and schools continue to benefit from the college access, default prevention and financial literacy services provided through the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP). FFELP partners look forward to continued dialogue with the Obama administration and congressional leaders to shape the future of federal student aid.

Despite current economic conditions, student loan funds continue to be available from FFELP lenders. The largest financial aid program in the nation, the FFELP provides students and parents low-cost education loans with flexible repayment plans and important deferment, forbearance and loan forgiveness options. Read more about how the FFELP helps thousands of students and families pay for college every year.
