Loan Organizations

The financial aid office at your current school or the one you will attend is a great resource for information about loan programs and lenders. The school may administer one or more federal loan programs and may also have recommendations for lenders under the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) or nonfederal loan programs.
If your school does not have a recommendation or if you need additional loan assistance, here are two sources of loans:
American Student Assistance (ASA) is a guarantor of federal loans under the Federal Family Education Loan Programs (FFELP). The ASA website provides information on federal loans and also provides a listing of lenders offering loans under ASA's program.

MEFA (Massachusetts Educational Finance Authority) is a self-financing non-profit Massachusetts state authority dedicated to assisting students, parents, colleges and universities in meeting the challenges of financing a higher education through innovative college savings programs and low-cost loan programs. MEFA's website provides information on saving for college, applying for financial aid, and on-line applications for MEFA's federal and private loan programs.

TERI is a guarantor of private, nonfederal loans. Nonfederal loans are often used to supplement loan amounts available under the federal loan programs. TERI's website includes useful information on private loan options and an online application.
