LOSFA is the state agency designated by the U.S. Department of Education to be the guarantor of student loans that originate in Louisiana under the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP). This includes:

Stafford Loans (subsidized and unsubsidized)

Parent Loans for Undergraduate Students (PLUS)

Grad PLUS Loan

The guarantee is a service offered by the state that allows lenders to make loans to students at favorable interest rates without a credit check.
