Hinson-Hazlewood College Student Loan Program
Welcome to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) student loan programs. Since 1965, the Hinson-Hazlewood College Student Loan Program has provided low-interest loans for students who are Texas residents and/or are eligible to pay in-state tuition. Because THECB does not sell its loans, all loans are serviced at THECB until they are paid in full.
Three loan programs are under the Hinson-Hazlewood umbrella: the College Access Loan (CAL) Program, the Health Education Loan Program (HELP), and the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP – Subsidized and Unsubsidized Stafford loans). The following links provide more details on these programs - you may also wish to access important information about loans for the remainder of the 2008-2009 academic year.
The Texas B-On-Time Loan is a zero-interest loan that is forgiven if recipients graduate “on time” with a 3.0 or higher GPA. The availability of BOT loans is dependent upon funding authorized by the Texas Legislature. BOT loans are being approved for previous recipients of BOT loans, but there is not sufficient funding to provide these loans to students who have not received a BOT loan in the past.
