Financial Aid
There are many ways to pay for college, depending on your academic situation. Financial Aid is available to students classified as degree seeking (certificate programs are not eligible). Some financial aid is based on merit, some on need. Loans require repayment, while grants don’t have to be repaid. Federal Pell Grant, HOPE, Institutional Matching Grant and most state program funds are limited to students pursuing a first bachelor’s degree.

New Teach Grant
Students who plan to teach may wish to consider the TEACH GRANT, a federal program that is new for 2008-2009. Georgia State University plans to participate in the TEACH GRANT program.

Applying for Aid
The first step to getting financial aid is to apply.
Undergraduate Students
Financial Aid is available to students classified as degree seeking (certificate programs are not eligible.) Federal Pell Grant, HOPE, Institutional Matching Grant and most state program funds are limited to students pursuing a first baccalaureate degree.

Graduate Students
Financial aid is available to students classified as a degree-seeking graduate/professional student.

Law Students
Financial aid is available to students classified as degree-seeking Law students.

HOPE
HOPE is Georgia's unique scholarship program that rewards students with financial assistance.

Georgia State University Scholarships
Georgia State offers several premier scholarships for undergraduates. Students named National Merit Finalist, National Achievement Finalist, or National Hispanic Scholar, and who designate Georgia State University as their top college choice, will automatically be offered either the Presidential, the Berner, or the Goizueta Foundation Scholarship Fund award described below.
