Tufts is committed to helping families meet the cost of higher education. The University offers a variety of financial aid programs, depending on the school and family situation. Some of the aid awards may include federal and state loans, work study as well as university grants for students who qualify.
Arts, Sciences & Engineering
More than 40 percent of last year's entering class received more than $13.7 million in total aid, $11.5 million (84 percent) of which was grants. Tufts meets the full demonstrated need of all admitted aid candidates. Combinations of university, local, state, federal and other aid funds may result in awards between $2,500 and full cost, according to need.
Graduate Arts, Sciences & Engineering
Tufts provides a full range of financial assistance with scholarships, loans, and employment to as many graduate students as its own and federal funds allow. Scholarships, fellowships and teaching assistantships are awarded to many full-time masters and doctoral students.
The Fletcher School
A variety of financial aid resources are available to Fletcher students, including scholarship aid, work-study and on-campus employment, and loan funds guaranteed by the U.S. federal government or other lenders.
School of Medicine
Several financial aid options are available for medical school students including scholarships, grants, loans and federal work study.
Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences
The Sackler School typically covers the full cost of tuition through tuition scholarships for full-time students. In addition, most full-time students in the Basic Biomedical Sciences programs will receive a stipend (research assistantship) that is designed to cover living and educational costs incurred while enrolled in the Sackler School.
School of Dental Medicine
Tufts University School of Dental Medicine offers a wide variety of both federal and private education loan programs as well as need-based grants. In addition, merit scholarships are awarded to those students demonstrating academic excellence.
Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy
Various types of financial assistance are available for students at Tufts' Friedman School including loans, scholarships, work study, stipends, research assistantships, teaching assistantships and more.
Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine
Financial aid - including loans, scholarships and workstudy -- is awarded based on demonstrated financial need, and should be viewed as supplemental to family resources. During the 2003-2004 academic year, more than 75 percent of students received some form of financial assistance.
