Eligibility requirements:
Legal residents of Delaware.
U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens.
Full-time students enrolled at a Delaware college in an undergraduate program leading to teacher certification.
High school seniors must rank in upper half of class and have a combined score of 1570 on the SAT.
Undergraduates must have at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA.
Awards may be provided for programs of study not available in Delaware or prorated for part-time students in a qualifying program.
Preference is given to applicants planning to teach in a critical need area as defined by the Delaware Department of Education.

Mathematics (all levels)
Music
Reading Specialists
Science (all levels)
School Librarians
Special Education
Technology Education
In addition to the critical need areas listed above, administrators, nurses, psychologists, and speech/language pathologists may be eligible for federal loan cancellation or deferment options if they are employed in an eligible elementary or secondary school in Delaware.

Award:

Loan not to exceed cost of tuition, fees, and other direct educational expenses.
Renewable for up to three additional years with a cumulative GPA of 2.75
Loan forgiveness provision at a rate of one year of teaching in a Delaware public school for one year of loan.
Deadlines:
All application materials must be received by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2009.

Your High School Academic Record Report and Transcript Request or College Grade Release Form must be submitted directly to the Commission by your high school or college and be received by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2009.

First-time users must establish an account and provide a valid email and mailing address before proceeding to the application. Incomplete applications cannot be processed. Please be sure to provide all of the required information

(a) High School Academic Record Report and Transcript Request (high school seniors and applicants with less than 12 college credits), or (b) College Grade Release Form (applicants with 12 or more college credits)
