We're here to help...

At NC State, our goal is to assure that no student who can benefit from an NC State education be denied that opportunity due to finances. We are committed to allocating our financial aid resources to help the broadest range of students.

The difficulties of the current economy have posed new challenges for students and families and for federal and state government, which provides much of our funding for financial aid. One of our biggest challenges is that federal and state governments do not yet know the full extent of their budget impacts. While the good news is that there is aid for college students in the stimulus package, we do not know how much funding for aid we can expect to receive at NC State.

While we have every intention of doing all we can to fulfill our historical goals, and believe we will have sufficient aid available, it could be May before we know all the details. Aid packages may also contain more loan and work-study dollars than are typically included.

These are especially challenging budgetary times. I encourage all students and their families to talk about their financial realities. We can help you with your questions. Our staff of financial aid advisers is available year-round to discuss the full range of financial aid resources available to students and parents, as well as help you apply for financial aid. You can trust that the staff will offer you the best funding options available depending upon the timing of your application for aid, your level of financial need, and availability of funding. We help thousands of students and their families each year. We strive to tailor students’ financial aid packages to meet individual needs and goals.

NC State’s mission is to deliver a quality, affordable education. Several publications have ranked NC State as a national “best value” in higher education, a ranking that combines academic quality and affordability. Affordability and quality are particularly important in difficult budgetary times and we will take steps to maintain that difficult balance, providing as much financial aid as possible and holding the tuition increase for next year to less than three percent.

We look forward to helping make your dream of attending NC State a reality.
